Bookmobile Set-Up
More and more councils and organisations are complementing their large mobile libraries with a Bookmobile. This compact, agile vehicle offers greater flexibility, lower operating costs, and easier access to a wider range of locations.
The smaller vans can be driven with a standard car licence, making them easier to operate and deploy more frequently. They are ideal for short visits to places that are harder to reach with a large trailer, such as schools, aged care centres, and community events.
A regional council in Victoria recently introduced one of these compact vans and saw a 35 percent increase in outreach visits. This allowed them to connect with more people in more places without reducing the service hours of their larger mobile library.
